Occasionally we envy people who manage to find the time to achieve so much in their daily lives. Ciara Griffin is one such lady. Not only is she farming, teaching, personal training, captaining the Irish International Rugby team, working with Aldi, and Ford, but now she has taken on the role of Brand Ambassador with EcoStraws.ie to help rid this isle of single use plastic straws.
The announcement this week from EcoStraws, comes in the same week as the government banned single use plastic straws, cutlery and cups from all state agencies and government departments, and comes less than 3 months after a Europe wide ban was proposed by the EU.
Ciara Griffin, who teaches in CBS Primary School in Tralee, was very excited at the announcement; “As a farmer, teacher and proud Kerry woman, I have always had a keen interest in the environment. Education is key, and if I can help in any way, to ensure our natural environment and indeed livelyhoods are protected for future generations, then I will. I have been so impressed with the professionalism and enthusiasm of Brian, Sarah and Anthony with regards to eliminating single use plastics, and the impact they have already made. So, when they approached me to come on board, I bought into their vision very quickly.”
Based in Limerick, but trading nationally and internationally, EcoStraws.ie offers people an eco-friendly, high quality, fun alternative to the plastic drinking tube. EcoStraws.ie supply a complete range of eco-friendly reusable straws and 100% biodegradable disposable straws, as well as other associated products. Our range of reusable eco-friendly straws include Stainless Steel, Glass, Bamboo and Silicone straws. Our biodegradable EcoStraws are available in Wheat, PLA, and Paper, and we even stock Edible Straws so you can have your straw and eat it too!
Speaking at the announcement, Brian O’Callaghan, Managing Director of EcoStraws said: “We are very excited to announce that Ciara is joining the team here. We have admired her ambition, attitude and work ethic for a long time now and I believe she will go a long way both in sport and in business. Ciara is a highly organised and efficient individual whose thorough and precise approach to projects has yielded excellent results. She is already a leader on the field. Now, Ciara will act as a leader and role model off the field in helping us tackle environmental issues head on as we strive to #GoGreenIn2019.”
